Whether it’s liquid, gaseous ethanol or bioethanol, dehydration process is very important, especially for the acquisition of anhydrous ethanol or high purity ethanol.
Ethanol Dehydration
The purity of ethanol products is often more than 95%. In the ethanol production process, water is inevitably produced when ethanol is obtained, and ethanol and water need to be separated to obtain high-purity ethanol.
Because ethanol is easy to form azeotrope with water, high concentration ethanol cannot be obtained by ordinary distillation. Further purification is needed to exceed the limits for a more refined final product.
Molecular Sieve Solutions
The molecular sieve has been highlighted in the ethanol purification market, as a differentiated process, for obtaining the anhydrous ethanol. Using molecular sieve to remove water to PPM level is also the most popular method. Compared with other ethanol dehydration processes, the advantages of molecular sieve are: simplicity, low installation cost, easy operation, environmental protection, etc.
SNOWPEAK developed specialty molecular sieve for ethanol dehydration in the 1990s, which are used to dry ethanol produced from edible feedstock, cellulosic feedstock, and synthetically produced ethanol. The molecular sieve can be designed to fit all ethanol dehydration or purification units, which has been well evaluated by the partners in food, beverage and pharmaceuticals industries.
- High adsorption capacity of water
- High strength, not easy to crush
- Good fluidity, reduce the adsorption of ethanol and carbon dioxide
- Applicable for liquid or gaseous ethanol drying, and biomass ethanol production
